2023 Toyota GR Supra Price, Specs, Review

2023 Toyota GR Supra Price, Specs, ReviewIt’s not uncommon for automakers to wait a few years to let the accomplishment of restoring a long-gone sports car marque sink in among brand lovers. 2023 Toyota GR Supra, on the other hand, had different plans. Toyota is bringing the renowned Supra brand back for the 2023 model year after just one year of resurrecting it. When it comes to the 2.0T and 3.0-liter turbo-sixes, Toyota has returned both to make the GR Supra more accessible and more powerful than ever before.

The eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive remain the only available options, but the car’s sublime handling from last year has been further refined thanks to a redesigned chassis. When compared to the BMW Z4 and Nissan 370Z, there will always be comparisons, but the Supra has bigger goals in mind. It wants to compete with established sports car leaders like the Porsche 718 Cayman. Toyota offered us a 2.0 and a 3.0 to familiarize ourselves with the new features before the 2023 model sells.

Exterior Design

The 2023 Toyota GR Supra has been on the market for a year now, and its design cues like the dual exhaust, ducktail spoiler, and double-bubble roof are still as eye-catching as they were then. It’s one of the best-looking cars on the road today. LED headlights and LED DRLs are still standard across the board. Stainless steel tailpipes and gloss black side mirrors set 2.0 models apart from the rest of the lineup.

The 3.0s feature matte black mirror covers, brushed stainless steel tailpipes, and 19-inch alloy wheels in addition to their 18-inch alloy wheels. The new A91 Edition Supra adds even more exclusivity with a carbon fiber lip spoiler, matte black alloy wheels, carbon fiber mirror caps, and exclusive C-pillar graphics in a black satin double-hash design, one of which is available only on the A91 Edition.

Interior Design

Despite the reappearance of a 2.0-liter engine, the 2+2 seating layout of the Supras of the past is still nowhere to be seen after five generations. It’s a two-seater sports coupe cabin that’s a little less accommodating to taller people, but it’s still roomy. The BMW influence is still evident, but that means high-quality leather, a terrific driving position, and controls that feel great in your hands.

Since you spend more time inside the car than outside looking at the body, we can’t entirely overlook the interior’s lack of Toyota authenticity. As for 2023, the original 6.5-inch infotainment screen has been replaced by an 8.8-inch display on all versions except the base 2.0, while the base speaker count has been cut to only four, and the seats are manually adjusted for the sake of weight reduction.

For a long time, the Celica-Supra was the name given to the six-cylinder Toyota Supra, but the Celica was used for the two-cylinder models. This is no longer the case, and you can now purchase a Supra with a four-banger engine for the first time. It’s a 2.0-liter B48 engine from BMW that makes 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque across a wide range of revs (1,550-4,400).

The new model year’s 3.0-liter turbo-six in the higher trim levels finally receives the 382 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque found in the Z4. Despite the new base model’s reduced power, there is still no manual transmission, and both models retain the excellent eight-speed automatic transmission.

2023 Toyota GR Supra Price and Release Date

With a starting price of $42,990 for the new 2.0-liter variant, buying a Supra is now more affordable than ever before. At a starting price of $50,990, the 3.0 now commands a $1,000 premium over the previous model’s MSRP. There is a $740 increase in price between this year’s A91 Edition and the last year’s Launch Edition, the 3.0 Premium. Destination fees of $995 will be added to all models.
